Position: Technical Officer (Aquaculture)
Location: North Moreton

As a Technical Officer (Aquaculture), you will

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and actively participate in the planning, organisation, and conduct of research into the development of new fish species for aquaculture production across multiple production systems.
  • Undertake all operational aspects of fish husbandry and spawning, including feeding, live feed production, systems maintenance, fish health, reproductive status monitoring, disease treatment, and collection of brood stock.
  • Collect and effectively manage data in appropriate software following quality assurance processes.
  • Collate, manipulate and quantitatively analyse datasets.
  • Contribute to the interpretation of research results.
  • Contribute to the publication of fisheries research, including science journal papers and reports, within identified time frames.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Diploma or Associate Diploma in Applied Science, Aquaculture, Fisheries Science or equivalent.
  • International qualifications require assessment to determine comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework; the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training can assist for Queensland residents.
  • Relevant technical and aquaculture experience in commercial production and/or research settings.
  • Willingness to work out of hours, travel, weekends, and on site at commercial farms during trials.
  • Strong attention to detail, effective time management, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Positive attitude and ability to contribute to the team.
