Laboratory Technician
An exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician / Lab Technician to support laboratory testing, product development, scientific research, pilot coating, quality processes and manufacturing operations within a specialist chemistry environment.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 Hours per Week (Flexi Hours based around operational hours 7am – 7pm)

As the Laboratory Technician you will carry out practical laboratory work, operate pilot-scale equipment and support formulation, chemistry and manufacturing processes within a specialist research environment.
Working with light-sensitive materials in safelight conditions, you will contribute to product development, continuous improvement, experimental design and technical knowledge, helping to support high-quality manufacturing and laboratory operations.
This is a hands‑on role where you can really see the impact of your work through to the final product.
Duties- Laboratory Testing:
Carry out practical laboratory work and operate pilot‑scale equipment - Product Development:
Support the development and improvement of products, processes and technical knowledge - Scientific Experiments:
Grow silver halide crystals and silver nanoparticles under carefully controlled conditions - Pilot‑Scale Manufacturing:
Work across both small‑scale (8L) and larger pilot‑scale (80L) laboratory processes - Formulation Support:
Assist with formulation and pilot coating activities - Measurement and Analysis:
Conduct measurement, testing and data collection activities accurately - Safelight Working:
Work with light‑sensitive materials in safelight and occasional darkroom conditions - Experimental Design:
Contribute to experimental planning and communicate findings clearly - Health and Safety:
Follow laboratory standards, safety procedures and quality processes at all times
- An A level (grade C and above) or BTEC in Chemistry or proven experience of working in a laboratory environment
- A proven understanding of scientific principles and terminology and of laboratory standards
- A proven ability to use a wide range of laboratory techniques, including measurement and testing
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work in safelight conditions and very occasionally in total darkness
- Unrestricted right to work in the UK
- Salary of £26,524 which can rise annually based on performance
