Position: Associate Scientist I
Location: Monks Heath

Are you a recent graduate within the Toxicology field with a passion and driven by discovery to wanting to contribute to global drug discovery? If so, then this could be the opportunity for you! As an Associate Scientist, you will be working within our dynamic and adaptable toxicology team which works closely together to support, coach, and mentor one another. The team is committed to the developments and continually strives to be at the forefront of in vitro toxicology capabilities.

Working with collaborative partnerships ranging from small academic groups to large international pharmaceutical and cosmetics companies in doing so, it champions the use of new science and technology to provide tailored solutions aligned to the specific needs of each client. We continually push to grow and improve our scientific offerings through bespoke projects and continual assay development. Our team currently consists of 18 members with varying levels of experience and areas of expertise team and in response to our growing business, we are looking for another Associate Scientist to support the group's further expansion.

This includes in vitro screening to support discovery projects, regulatory studies to support preclinical and clinical development, specialist mechanistic in vitro human and animal toxicity models and PBPK/QSAR modelling expertise.

With state-of-the-art facilities and technical expertise, we provide innovative and bespoke assurance tailored to each of our client’s needs. As a result of year-on-year success within the company and continued business growth, exciting opportunities have arisen to join our team of 15+ Toxicology scientists. As a member of the Toxicology team, you will develop in-depth technical expertise across multiple platforms including High-Content Screening (HCS), Seahorse Analyser, Flow Cytometry and plate reader whilst understanding how this data is utilised to support drug discovery and inform clinical development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Toxicology screening assays such as High Content Imaging (HCI) and mitochondrial toxicity assays for commercial as well as research and development activities.
  • Perform work to an exceptionally high standard, within specified timelines, and within safety regulations.
  • Assist in running and maintaining robotic systems to support high throughput processes.
  • Assist in data analysis and interpretation by applying knowledge of biochemistry and cell biology in Toxicology processing.
  • Prepare compounds, stock solutions and buffers.
  • Routine calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Keeping up to date with relevant scientific advances and regulatory guidelines in the field of in vitro toxicology.
Education, Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of BSc in a life science subject preferably with experience of working within a laboratory environment (such as a placement year or extended research project).
  • Highly self-motivated and personable.
  • Able to communicate effectively within a team environment.
  • Able to organise daily tasks, frequently work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Possess meticulous attention to detail, performing work to an exceptionally high standard, and within the company and statutory safety regulations.
