Volunteer Cafe Assistant

To support the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary in caring for unwanted donkeys, ponies, a mule, a horse and not forgetting Mister cat, by helping our cafe staff in welcoming visitors in a positive and friendly way, and by providing a smooth and efficient service. Our cafe is a really important part of the sanctuary and all the profits from the cafe go directly towards the care and welfare of our animals.

You need to be confident, friendly, approachable and reliable.

This can be a busy role, so you need to be someone who likes to be busy and, on the move working at speed and happy to be on your feet for a few hours. Training will be provided to use our commercial dishwasher as needed.

Hours will mainly be 11am to 3pm, busy times may require flexibility.

Training will be provided.

You will be required to commit to a regular weekly shift.

Taking food from the kitchen to the tables in a friendly manner.

• Clearing tables and hygienically wiping them down as soon as possible after visitors have left so tables are ready for the next visitors.
• Helping with the washing up following the kitchen procedure for doing this, ensuring there is a readily available supply of plates, cutlery etc.
• Helping team members as required.
• Assisting with any additional jobs the café manager or supervisor requests.
• Following all food and hygiene procedures and policies at all times.
