We're looking for a part-time Kitchen Porter to join the team at Errington's Barn
, our farm café near Biggar.

This role would suit someone who likes being busy, enjoys working as part of a team and takes satisfaction from getting things clean, organised and done properly.

You do need a good attitude, plenty of energy and to be someone we can rely on.

This is a part-time daytime position
, with typical shifts around:

11:00am-4:30pm,

Weekend availability is essential
, as Saturdays and Sundays are our busiest days.

There may also be additional weekday shifts available depending on the time of year and how many hours you are looking for.

No split shifts.

And your evenings are still your own.

A good Kitchen Porter is a really important part of our kitchen.

When lunch service gets busy, you help keep the whole thing moving.

You’ll be:

Keeping on top of dishes, pans, trays and kitchen equipment

Keeping the pot wash clean and organised

Helping the chefs during busy service

Putting clean equipment back where it belongs

Emptying bins and managing recycling

Keeping kitchen and storage areas clean

Helping with the end-of-day clean down

Occasionally helping with simple kitchen prep

Spotting what needs doing and getting on with it

It can be fast-paced.

There will be busy days.

And yes... there will be washing up!

Quite a lot of it.

But you'll be joining a small team where what you do genuinely makes a difference.

Experience isn't essential.

Attitude is.

You’ll probably fit in well if:

You are reliable

You turn up on time

You don't mind physical work

You take pride in leaving things clean and organised

You can work quickly without becoming flustered

You are happy helping wherever needed

You work well with other people

You can use your initiative rather than waiting to be told every little thing

You think washing up or cleaning is beneath you.

You regularly turn up late.

You disappear when things get busy.

Or you need someone standing beside you telling you what to do next.

Nothing personal.

We just know the kind of person who works well here.

And when the café is full on a Saturday lunchtime, a brilliant Kitchen Porter is worth their weight in gold.
