The role:

Are you passionate about showcasing your cooking skills? We are looking for an Assistant Chef at The Coppice to prepare nutritious, delicious meals for our Shire Living residents putting a smile on their faces. Our Shire Living or supported housing facilities provide people over 55 years old a safe, secure, and caring environment.

This is a fantastic opportunity where you will become a key part of the team to deliver catering services to our residents. Our scheme in Whitchurch, Shropshire has 70 apartments that may be single or double occupied.

What you will be doing:

As our Assistant Chef, you'll support the delivery of an excellent catering service by:

* Preparing high-quality, nutritious meals for residents

* Supporting the day-to-day management of kitchen operations

* Monitoring stock levels and carrying out inventory checks

* Ordering food and kitchen supplies

* Maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment

* Supporting the induction and training of new kitchen team members

* Building positive relationships with residents and visitors

* Ensuring food hygiene, health and safety, and sanitation standards are consistently maintained

About you:

We're looking for someone who:

* Has a passion for producing delicious, well-presented, and nutritionally balanced meals

* Has experience of stock control, ordering supplies, and completing stock takes

* Enjoys following established processes and procedures while bringing creativity and fresh ideas to the kitchen

* Is proactive, adaptable, and willing to think outside the box

* Has a friendly, positive approach and enjoys working with people

* Takes pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and customer service
