Car Buyer and Sales Executive

Burcham Car Sourcing has grown through reputation, recommendation and repeat business, so relationships sit at the heart of everything we do.

We’re looking for someone personable, credible and commercially minded to join our car sourcing business. You’ll bring an established network of clients, dealers, specialists and automotive contacts, and enjoy turning those relationships into introductions, buying opportunities, referrals and long-term business.

Alongside client sourcing, you’ll run your own retail book, creating two commission opportunities.

What does the job actually involve?

The main role is sourcing cars for our clients. You’ll be a key member of the team, getting to understand what each client is looking for, you’ll research the market, identify the best cars and develop opportunities through your network and referrals.

You’ll check specification, provenance and history, negotiate with dealers, traders and private sellers, and manage the process through inspection, preparation and delivery.

Alongside sourcing, you’ll buy suitable retail stock, arrange preparation and advertising, manage enquiries and look after customers through viewings and collection. Retail viewings are by appointment and may occasionally require an ad hoc Saturday.

Some days you’ll be researching cars from your desk. Others you might be speaking to a client, negotiating with a dealer, arranging an inspection, collecting a car, photographing new retail stock or helping us find something particularly difficult.

The person we’re looking for

You’ll be someone people trust and recommend, creating opportunities without making people feel sold to.

Your exact title matters less than your manner, network, buying judgement and ability to generate business.

• A confident buyer, with a strong instinct for value, specification, provenance and risk
• Commercially ambitious and proactive, but never pushy
• Good at listening, building rapport and maintaining long term relationships
• Proactive, resourceful and confident creating your own opportunities
• Organised enough to manage several sourcing briefs and a retail book
• Discreet and credible with clients who expect a highly personal service
• Collaborative, with no ego or old school dealership mentality
• The holder of a full UK driving licence

Motor trade experience would be useful, particularly in sourcing, buying or specialist cars.

It would be a real bonus if...

• If you understand social media, can photograph a car properly and enjoy creating automotive content, we’d love you to bring that into the role too.

What we offer

• £30,000 to £40,000 basic salary, depending on experience
• Uncapped commission across client sourcing and retail sales
• Realistic OTE of £55,000 to £65,000 once established, with scope to earn more
