Senior Residential Childcare Practitioner – Greenleaf House
Location: Biggar, South Lanarkshire
Salary: From £38,325 to £42,901 OTE plus overtime at time and a half.

Role Overview: You will be part of a unique team to facilitate excellent practice and shape the development of our service. As a Senior Practitioner you will lead high‑performing teams, ensuring safe, nurturing care for young people 24/7 and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide care and support to children and young people in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor care practitioners.
- Ensure the care team possesses the skills, knowledge and ability to care for children effectively.
- Support on‑call arrangements as a senior member.
- Assist with management tasks – finance, staffing, recruitment, training, and environment.
- Maintain and improve care standards and complete professional reports within agreed timescales.
- Contribute to the assessment process, delivery of support programmes, and record keeping.
- Participate in health and safety checks, de‑escalation and physical intervention strategies.
- Promote young people’s participation and maintain structure, boundaries, and routines.
- Support statutory reviews, emergency call‑out procedures, and cleaning and hygiene of the environment.
Ideal Candidate:
- Significant experience in a residential children’s home and supervisory capacity.
- SVQ 3 and HNC in social care (or equivalent). SSSC registration and PVG membership.
- Full UK manual driving licence and car insurance eligibility for company vehicles.
- Strong communication, teamwork, leadership, and safeguarding knowledge.
- Ability to work shifts, including evenings, sleep‑overs, and weekends.
- Knowledge of child protection legislation and crisis/intervention training.
