Community support worker - Communicator guide (BSL required)
We're looking for a Female Communicator guide to join our team in Llanelli on a permanent basis, providing personalised 1:1 support to a deaf adult in the community. Your role is to support them to stay connected to the social life they love, including watching sport, arts and crafts, getting out for a coffee and exploring the community, all communicating through BSL.
Working 4 hours per week, the service generally runs between 10am–4pm with the exact shift pattern to be discussed is £13.00 per hour, with the potential for hours to increase over time. Comprehensive training is provided from day one.
For genuine occupational reasons, this role is open to female candidates only (Equality Act 2010, Part 1, Schedule
9).
We are looking for someone who is:
- Warm, kind and respectful — you put people at ease
- A good communicator who listens as much as they talk
- Enthusiastic about supporting someone to live life on their own terms
- BSL Level 3 or a first language BSL user — this is essential for this role
This role might include supporting with:
- Day-to-day tasks and community activities
- Communication support using BSL
- Social groups and getting out and about in the local area
- Working alongside an existing support team
- Full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle with business car insurance
- BSL Level 3 or first language BSL
