Cumnock, East Ayrshire. Position:
Female Personal Assistant to a young lady who is 20 years old.
Contract:
15 hours per week. Salary:
Living wage rate – £13.45 per hour, paid 4 weekly in arrears.
Annual Leave: 5.6 weeks paid annual leave pro rata for contracted staff.
Days of work / times required:
Wednesday and Friday after daycare centre 2 PM‑6 PM, Saturday or Sunday 11 AM‑6 PM. Flexible schedule may be required.
To support a young lady who has learning disabilities and a sight impairment to socialise within her community. She enjoys swimming, bowling, outdoor activities, music, and dancing.
Probationary PeriodThere is a 6‑month probationary period attached to the post.
Successful applicant will have to undergo a new or updated PVG disclosure and supply two up‑to‑date reference contacts prior to appointment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities- Support the person to engage in all aspects of community life and activities as directed by her family, mainly social activities such as swimming, ten‑pin bowling, and bus outings.
- Assist with a small amount of personal care tasks while she is out.
- Provide companionship in her own home when required.
- Work flexibly in the evenings and on weekends as planned in advance.
- Support her choices and preferences, guided by the family.

- Knowledge & skills: understanding of how to support and facilitate in a way that empowers the person.
- Good interpersonal skills and values reflecting social inclusion.
- Excellent and effective communication and listening skills.
- Good organisational skills.
- Working knowledge of good person‑centred practice.
- Experience of positively supporting someone as a peer or similar.
- Engage effectively and work in partnership with others.
- Supported people to achieve positive outcomes.
- Physically capable.
- Good sense of humour, flexible, reliable, and down to earth.
- Ability to connect into community activities and to make contacts/networks.
