Full-time An exciting opportunity to join Twenty Four-Seven Twenty Four-Seven is a specialist, independent organisation that has been supporting children and families since 2001. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Work Assessor to join our residential Family Assessment Centre in Kings Heath, Birmingham. This is a rewarding opportunity for a qualified Social Worker with experience in Local Authority children's services, parenting assessments and child protection to work with vulnerable families and help achieve the best possible outcomes for babies and their parents.

Our service provides intensive residential assessments for families with babies aged 0 to 12 months , where concerns have been identified regarding parenting capacity and further assessment and support are required. The aim is to provide parents with the opportunity to demonstrate and develop their parenting abilities in a safe, supportive environment, helping families progress towards independent community living wherever possible.

Salary & Bonus Starting salary: £38,750 per annum In addition, we offer a Parenting Assessment Bonus Scheme, paying £250 for every completed parenting assessment . A full-time Social Work Assessor holding a caseload of three families could earn up to an additional £3,000 per year through the scheme. About the Role As a Social Work Assessor, you will lead comprehensive parenting assessments within our residential Family Assessment Centre.

Families typically reside within the service for up to 12 weeks , during which time detailed assessments are completed to evaluate parenting capacity, identify risks and strengths, and inform future care planning. You will work directly with parents and their babies, ensuring the child's safety, wellbeing and development remain central to all aspects of the assessment process. The role involves managing a caseload of 3 to 4 families at any one time , providing professional guidance to residential support staff and working collaboratively with families to help them develop the skills, confidence and resilience required to safely care for their child.

You will work closely with Local Authority Social Workers, Children's Guardians, solicitors and other professionals involved in care proceedings and safeguarding planning.

Key Responsibilities Lead and undertake comprehensive residential parenting assessments. Hold a caseload of 3 to 4 families. Assess parenting capacity, attachment, child development and safeguarding risk. Support parents to develop practical parenting skills and confidence in caring for their baby. Ensure children's safety, wellbeing and developmental needs are promoted throughout the assessment process. Develop and review risk assessments, safety plans and support plans.

Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding and child protection concerns. Produce high-quality, evidence-based assessments and reports for Local Authorities and Family Courts. Attend Court and provide professional evidence where required. Participate in placement planning, reviews and multidisciplinary meetings. Work collaboratively with Local Authorities and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children and families. Provide professional guidance and support to Family Assessment Support Workers and colleagues.

Contribute to the effective day-to-day operation of the Family Assessment Centre. Participate in the on-call rota. About You You will be a qualified Social Worker with substantial experience working with children and families within statutory or specialist assessment services.

You will have:

A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW or equivalent). Current registration with Social Work England. At least two years' post-qualification experience within children's social care. Experience working with Local Authorities and children's safeguarding services. Proven experience undertaking parenting assessments and family assessments. Strong knowledge of child protection, safeguarding procedures and risk management. Experience working within a residential family assessment centre, family support service or similar family-focused setting.

Experience supporting vulnerable families with complex needs. Excellent report-writing and analytical skills.

Experience of providing evidence in Court proceedings. Strong understanding of child development, attachment theory and parenting capacity assessments. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. The confidence to manage challenging situations and provide constructive professional challenge where required.
