Job Title: Marine Planner
Location: Liverpool
Salary: Up to £35,000 with overtime opportunities
The Role
We are seeking a proactive and organised Marine Planner to support the Operations team within a leading towage and maritime services provider. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the efficient planning and dispatch of towage vessels, ensuring safe, timely, and well-coordinated operations. You will act as a key communication hub between vessel crews, port authorities, and internal stakeholders, helping to deliver a seamless and high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess incoming assistance requests and determine the most effective vessel allocation and scheduling
- Monitor live operational activity, including vessel positions, arrivals, departures, and waiting times
- Maintain and update dispatch schedules while forecasting workload and resource requirements
- Communicate clearly and effectively with captains, harbour authorities, and relevant stakeholders
- Ensure safe operations, promptly advising all parties of any schedule changes or operational adjustments
- Act as the first and central point of contact in emergency situations
- Accurately record operational data within systems to support billing and reporting
Education / Qualifications
- Vocational education or higher in a relevant discipline
- 3 8 years experience in a relevant role such as logistics, operations, or administration
- Previous experience within the maritime industry is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of port operations, maritime regulations, tides, and local port environments
- Excellent command of spoken and written English
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Confident decision-making and communication skills
