HGV Class 1 Night Driver

We are seeking a reliable and conscientious HGV Class 1 Driver to join our small, family-run driver agency on a well-established night trunking route. This is a trunking route running between the Colnbrook/Slough area and South Yorkshire and back each shift, so you should be comfortable with several hours of motorway driving. It's also a fixed, consistent route worked every shift the collections, delivery and running order stay the same night to night, so once you know the route, the job doesn't change from one shift to the next.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years' HGV Class 1 driving experience. Schedule Ongoing role:
Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, every week. Shift start: 18:00, averaging around 12 hours. Immediate start:
Monday 24th August 2026. As well as your ongoing Thursday Sunday nights, you'll also be needed for four additional paid shifts while we bring the rota up to speed:
Monday 24th August, Tuesday 25th August, Tuesday 1st September and Wednesday 2nd September. From 3rd September onwards, the role settles into Thursday Sunday nights only, ongoing. From time to time you may also be offered extra nights to help cover a colleague's holiday or sickness absence a good way to pick up additional paid hours if you're interested, though never a requirement.
Location Based in SL3 (Colnbrook/Slough area), running to South Yorkshire and back each shift. Full site details provided on offer. Responsibilities Drive the fixed nightly trunking route safely and efficiently, following all traffic laws, tachograph rules and company procedures. Take an empty trailer to two scheduled collection points, where site staff will load it you'll decouple the unit from the trailer at each stop while it's loaded, then recouple for the next leg.
Assist with unloading at the delivery site. Log into and update the relevant apps to record job progress and vehicle checks throughout the shift. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the vehicle is in good working condition. Maintain accurate delivery logs and complete all necessary paperwork related to shipments. Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other staff regarding delivery schedules and any issues.
Skills Minimum of 2 years' HGV Class 1 driving experience. Valid Driver CPC and digital tachograph card. Comfortable with night driving and multi-drop trunking work. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in managing delivery schedules and documentation. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with clients and depot staff effectively. Comfortable using apps/handheld devices to log job progress and vehicle checks.
Very good punctuality. Willingness to sign a Working Time Directive (WTD) opt-out agreement. Pay Weekly pay, PAYE. £20/hour Monday Saturday. £21/hour Sundays and Bank Holidays. Job Type: 4 nights/week, averaging around 48 hours
