Overview

The role of the Warehouse Operator is to support Warehouse Management in the day‑to‑day running of the warehouse, ensuring high operational standards and providing goods and parts required by the main factory. The operator performs additional duties as needed, plays a pivotal role in warehouse operations, and maintains a high standard of safety and effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate forklifts – follow all safety standards and company protocols; carry out daily inspections and keep forklifts in good working order. Move goods around the warehouse and to the factory, and load/unload vehicles.
  • Inventory control – help management carry out regular stock checks (cycle counts); ensure stock quantities are correct, located accurately, and marked up properly.
  • Deliveries – receive all goods that arrive in the warehouse and check that the delivery note matches. Report any discrepancies or damaged goods to management.
  • Prepare shipments – prepare all shipments for collection and verify that paperwork matches what is being dispatched.
  • COSHH – ensure all COSHH items are stored in their correct locations as specified in company guidance.
  • Warehouse maintenance – keep the warehouse tidy; store equipment properly when not in use; report any damages or issues to management; follow best practices for smooth operations.
  • Coordinate – work with management and other teams on additional warehouse tasks.
  • Safety – uphold high safety standards in the working environment.
  • Waste – support on‑site waste management.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of warehouse experience (training will be provided if needed).
  • Good organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Forklift licence (training will be provided if missing).
  • Experience with inventory software, databases and systems.
  • Good written and spoken English, maths skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Capability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Flexibility and willingness to change tasks on short notice.
  • Problem‑solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry using ERP software.
  • Quality‑control skills – ability to check and recognise goods that do not meet required standards.
  • Willingness to learn new skills.
  • Good time‑keeping.
