Warehouse Operator

Overview

The role of the Warehouse Operator is to support the Warehouse management in the day‑to‑day running of the warehouse. Ensuring high standards are kept in the operation of the warehouse, and supporting the main factory with goods and parts required for their day‑to‑day running. Performing additional duties as and when needed, and playing a pivotal role in the running of the warehouse, whilst maintaining a high standard of safety and operating effectiveness.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Operate forklifts – Follow all safety standards and company protocols. Carry out daily inspections and ensure forklifts are kept in good working order. Movement of goods around the warehouse and to the factory, as well as loading and unloading of vehicles.
  • Inventory control – Help management to carry out regular stock checks (cycle counts). Ensure stock quantities are correct, located in correct locations and marked up correctly.
  • Deliveries – GRN of all goods that arrive in the warehouse. Check that the delivery note matches the goods delivered. Report any discrepancies in paperwork or damaged goods.
  • Prepare shipments – Prepare all shipments for collection. Check that the paperwork matches what is being dispatched.
  • Coshh – Ensure all COSHH items are stored in correct locations as set out in company guidance.
  • Warehouse – Ensure the warehouse is kept tidy and all equipment when not in use is put away and stored correctly. Report any damages to management timely.
  • Coordinate with Management on any other tasks with warehouse duties.
  • Safety – Maintain high standards of safety within the working environment.
  • Waste – Support waste management on site.
Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Experience
  • Experience – Minimum of 2 years desirable but not essential.
  • Skills – Good organisational and time management skills; forklift licence (training provided if not); ability to use inventory software, databases and systems (training provided if not); good written English, maths and oral skills; ability to lift heavy objects; ability to work as a team or independently; flexibility to change tasks on short notice; problem solving; basic computer skills for data entry using ERP software;

    quality control; willingness to learn new skills and support others; good time keeping.
