new life clinic is seeking a chief financial officer to oversee the organization’s financial operations and support the long-term financial stability of the clinic. This position is responsible for budgeting, bookkeeping, financial reporting, timekeeping and payroll oversight, internal controls, compliance, financial planning and third-party billing operations-including claims submission, coding accuracy, denial management, and reimbursement follow-up with insurance carriers, medicare, medicaid and other payers.
the chief financial officer will work closely with clinic leadership to support responsible financial stewardship, transparency, and long-term sustainability. This role directs financial planning, budgeting, revenue cycle management, audits and reporting. The cfo will work closely with clinic leadership to support program growth, optimize billing for medication-assisted treatment (mat) services, and maintain compliance with samhsa, dea, dhcs, and other regulatory bodies.
The cfo provides strategic guidance to strengthen the clinic’s financial health and ensures transparent, accurate, and compliant financial practices. This role plays an important part in protecting the financial integrity of the organization while strengthening operations and ensuring resources are managed responsibly in support of new life clinic’s mission to provide compassionate, culturally rooted care to the community.

key responsibilities- lead and oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and forecasting.
- oversee daily accounting and financial operations.
- manage billing and revenue cycle processes for mat services including dispensing and counseling.
- maintain accurate financial records in accordance with the nlc’s finance.
- review general ledger accounts and prepare adjusting entries as needed.
- reconcile bank accounts and financial records.
- support grant management, including budget tracking, reporting, and compliance requirements.
- prepare federal, state, local, and tribal financial reports as required.
- assist with audit preparation and respond to audit findings or deficiencies.
- review, update, and maintain accounting and procurement procedures.
- monitor internal controls and recommend improvements as needed.
- support department directors and leadership with budget planning and financial reporting.
- safeguard clinic assets and ensure proper documentation of financial activity.
- maintain compliance with applicable tribal, federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- communicate financial information clearly and professionally with new life board, leadership, staff, and outside agencies.
- collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to support operational decisions with financial data.
- supervise and mentor finance, billing, and accounting personnel.
- perform other duties as assigned.

new life clinic offers a compensation and benefits package designed to be competitive with, and comparable to, the wages and benefits provided by the state of california for chief financial officer and comparable executive-level finance positions within state health agencies.
- competitive annual salary of $150,000 - $205,000 doe, in line with calhr salary schedules for chief financial officer/comparable executive classifications at state health and human services agencies (e.g., approx. $172,800-$203,600 annualized)
