Mendocino Forest Products Company, LLC is seeking a Level 2 Millwright on SWING SHIFT to join their maintenance team in Ukiah, CA! This is a non-exempt position at an hourly rate of $34.00 and offers full benefits:

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of a Millwright 2 are performed while continuing to learn and develop skills by working alongside Millwright 1’s and Journeyman. This role involves assisting under guidance with installs, maintains, and repairs machinery and equipment in a safe and productive manner. Operates hand, machine and power tools, forklifts, manlifts, and welding equipment.

  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment, including pneumatic and hydraulic apparatus for appropriate oiling and operation, with a solid understanding of both systems.
  • Maintain all material conveying systems according to manufactures specifications and company
  • Supports Company preventative maintenance program; works as an integral part of the maintenance
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of
  • Advanced skill level in layout and cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal
  • Effectively communicates with coworkers when notified of
  • Follows all lockout / tagout, hot work permit and confined space procedures and testing machines for restart.
  • Fill line oilers daily
  • Report problems to the maintenance staff as appropriate
  • Troubleshoots more complicated maintenance problems and provides technical direction to other millwrights as required.
  • May be required to operate a company vehicle on occasion for business purposes, including travel between departments and other designated areas on company property
Qualifications
  • One year certificate from college or technical school preferred
  • Or minimum two years related Sawmill experience.
  • Or two years’ technical craft training.
  • Or equivalent combination equaling 1,500 hours on the job training and 50 hours of classroom time.
  • Basic Algebra and Geometry
  • Licensed Forklift Operator/ Certified Man-Lift Operator desired
  • Meets the minimum tool requirements – list will be provided
  • Demonstrates safe work practices including LOTO, Hot work permits & Equipment Operation
  • Proven ability to follow detailed work instructions, blueprints, and schematics
  • Demonstrates Ability in the following:
    • Understanding of lubrication systems and proper lubrication application
    • Welding skills
    • Basic oxy-acetylene torch skills
    • Properly install and adjust drive and transfer chains
    • Properly change, adjust, and track transfer and drive belts
    • Understanding and proper use of tools and equipment
    • Remove, rebuild, and reinstall cylinders and valves including electrical connections
    • Knowledge of power transmission systems including ability to properly align components
    • Knowledge of proper rigging and lifting
    • Set-up and check bearings for proper operation
