Job OverviewCover maternity leave until 30/08/2027. Working 22.5 hours per week, shift pattern over 7 days a week, including regular evening and occasional night shifts for sickness/annual leave.
Registered nurse within Community Services across Dalton and Ulverston District, accountable for evidence‑based, holistic care of patients. Work as part of integrated team in community settings such as patients’ homes, residential and nursing homes.
Support the Sister/Team Leader in leading the team, supervising, directing staff and delegating workload according to staff skills.
Main Duties of the JobCommunity nurses deliver a wide range of interventions in patients’ homes: long‑term condition management, diabetes care, end‑of‑life care, catheter care, symptom control, and support. Assist patients to remain in their own homes, prevent hospital admission and support a long, healthy life.
Primary ResponsibilitiesGood communication and documentation skills across IT systems.
- Female/male and suprapubic catheterisation
- Compression bandaging
- Doppler investigations
- IPC drain care
- Venepuncture
- Wide range of wound care
- Medication administration and syringe pump management
- Bowel and bladder assessment and care
- Others as required
Work predominantly as a lone worker, making autonomous decisions with support from the team. Car use required.
Person Specification- Level 1 registered nursing qualifications
- Community Specialist Practitioner Qualification
- NMP
- Experience supporting professionals in practice/mentoring
- Experience of lone working
- High‑quality personalised care delivery
- Collaboration within a team

- Understanding of community staff nurse role
- Insertion of catheters (male/female/SP)
