About the Job – Your RoleAs a Construction Project Manager 2, you’ll manage capital construction projects over $1 million and capital improvement projects under $1 million for DOC and other state agencies. You’ll be the central point of contact for contract documentation, project coordination, and communication with architects, engineers, contractors, and agency partners.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the lead contact for construction contract administration and communication.
- Manage emergency and short‑duration maintenance or improvement projects from planning through completion.
- Review designs and specifications for compliance with DOC standards and building codes.
- Coordinate with DOC Procurement to develop and monitor public works contracts and bid processes.
- Draft and manage RFPs, RFQs, and consultant/contractor selection processes.
- Monitor warranty periods and ensure compliance with all construction‑related warranties.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Architecture, Planning, or Engineering AND at least 3 years of progressively responsible experience related to the class series concept.
- OR Associate Degree (or comparable coursework) in Architectural, Construction, or Engineering Technology AND at least 4½ years of progressively responsible experience.
- OR 6 years of progressively responsible experience related to the class series concept.
- Ability to manage multiple construction projects simultaneously, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to specification.
- Skilled in handling all aspects of contract administration, including change orders, payment requests, and correspondence tracking.
- Familiarity with Oregon’s public works contracting rules and the Attorney General’s Model Public Contracting Rules.
- Ability to review architectural and engineering designs for code compliance and alignment with DOC standards.
- Experience working with procurement teams to develop RFPs/RFQs and manage the bid and selection process for consultants and contractors.
- Understanding of construction warranties and the ability to monitor and enforce warranty compliance post‑construction.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and agency representatives.

Periodic contact with incarcerated felony offenders. Office environment requires tact and sensitivity. Use of video terminal for extended periods. May be required to work extended hours, travel to institutions, consultants, regulatory agencies, and construction sites, including overnight travel. Exposure to inclement weather and requirement to wear protective clothing during on‑site inspections.
BenefitsSalary range for non‑PERS qualifying applicants is $7,385–$10,759 per month. PERS qualifying applicants may receive an adjusted range reflecting an additional 6.95%.
