UPS Battery Technician

Job Description

We are hiring a UPS Battery Technician to join our growing Operations Services team at Amazon Web Services (AWS). The role focuses on maintaining critical equipment to ensure the highest availability for our data center customers. The technician works closely with internal customers, external vendors, and regional resources to facilitate smooth work execution. This critical role is responsible for the preventative maintenance of UPS batteries in our data centers.

• Apply preventative maintenance testing techniques to maintain UPS batteries across our fleet of data centers.
• Act as an ambassador for safety and promote safe working practices across the site.
• Comply with all security protocols.
• Interact daily with engineers, technicians, project managers, and management.
• Develop detailed and creative solutions to complex problems while keeping an eye on timelines and costs.
• Maintain strong working relationships across all levels of the organization.
• Ensure consistency in deployed configurations and track exceptions for follow-up.
• Execute predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
• Provide support for LSE, weather events, planned, and unplanned outages.
• Provide cross‑functional support for Generator, EPG, ATS, and Non‑destructive testing teams.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Perform performance and oversight of maintenance for all UPS batteries in an assigned area.
• Adhere to all safety procedures while performing work.
• Support basic concepts such as ticketing systems, root‑cause analysis, change management creation, writing procedures, and building management systems.
• Work schedule changes depend on specific site needs.
• Maintain data center critical infrastructure equipment to keep 99.999% uptime of the world's largest cloud computing portfolio.
• Support more than one location/site.
• Regularly walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, climb stairs, twist, bend, work above shoulders, grasp, carry, push, and pull.

• 1+ year of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering, or 1+ year of data center or mission‑critical facilities (e.g., hospital, military facility, public safety facility).
• High school or equivalent diploma.

• 2+ years of data center engineering experience.
