Cheese Production Supervisor (Boardman, OR)

We are a fast‑growing dairy brand, producing over 200 products across seven categories, including cheese, ice cream, yogurt, sour cream, butter, cream cheese, and frozen meals. We prioritize quality, safety, and teamwork in all stages of production.
What You Will DoAs a Food Manufacturing Supervisor, you will oversee daily operations of the cheese department, ensuring efficient, safe, and quality production. Your responsibilities include managing staff, payroll, schedules, GMPs, SOPs, safety, sanitation, equipment operation, and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities- Supervise cheese production from receipt of milk to final product, maximizing yields and maintaining cost efficiency.
- Ensure all SOPs are followed and enforce compliance.
- Assign and track work orders.
- Communicate production goals to the crew.
- Review daily production data, maintain priority balance, and prepare efficiency summaries.
- Maintain sanitation of equipment using proper techniques.
- Report product or ingredient quality exceptions with appropriate urgency.
- Work with operators to troubleshoot and resolve equipment and production issues.
- Implement corrective action plans, determine root causes, and oversee resolution.
- Use labor and packaging supplies cost‑effectively to control cost.
- Oversee the 6S initiative.
- Manage daily performance of cheese operators, ensuring proper procedures.
- Champion World Class Manufacturing (WCM) initiatives.
- Train and cross‑train employees fairly and efficiently.
- Address performance issues timely, consistently, and confidentially.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to enhance individual and team performance.
- Build teamwork by treating people with respect and encouraging cooperation, involvement, and information sharing.
- Ensure compliance with USDA, OSDA, FDA, and other regulatory product safety requirements.
- Monitor SOP usage.
- Establish manufacturing quality control testing and measurement points.
- Review previous day’s production and laboratory reports of cheese analysis.
- Develop effective working relationships with Quality Assurance and Maintenance.
- Work with maintenance engineering to plan and schedule repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Interview, hire and train employees; plan, assign, direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, and the general public.
- Communicate effectively.
- Act as a team player and be able to interact with staff at all levels of the company.
- Work under pressure, meet deadlines, and be flexible in working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrate excellent time‑management skills, and work independently with little supervision.
Skills and Abilities
- High School diploma or GED; a Bachelor’s degree is a plus or a combination of experience and education.
- 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience managing a manufacturing operation, with supervisor experience.
- Weekend and off‑shift work is required; duties may include repetitive motion of hands and lifting up to 45 pounds.
