Civil Design Engineer; Hydraulics

As a Civil Design Engineer at Knight Piésold, you’ll be at the forefront of designing and delivering complex, high-impact pump and pipeline systems. You’ll tackle technically demanding projects, push innovative solutions, and see your designs come to life in real-world operations. • Plan and schedule project development, define the scope of work and prepare proposals for clients.
• Conduct site visit investigations when required by the project.
• Develop mechanical and Civil design criteria, equipment and flow diagrams, operating and control philosophies.
• Perform pipeline system hydraulic designs, 3D modelling and surge analysis.
• Perform pipeline stress analysis calculations.
• Perform pump selections and engineering design calculations to specify and size pumps, motors, control valves, regulators, relief valves, pipework and other associated mechanical equipment.
• Design and detailing of pump stations, valve stations and tank assemblies.
• Technical report writing.
• Perform commissioning of pump station and pipeline systems.
• Manage and coordinate small to medium-sized projects.
• Mentoring and training of junior staff

• BSc/BEng degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering is required.
• ECSA Registered would be an advantage.
• 5to 10 years of specialised experience in pumping and pipeline system engineering designs.
• Proficiency in using modelling software (such as Civil 3D, Revit, Inventor)
• Proficiency in using hydraulic surge analysis software (such as Bentley Hammer or similar)
• Must be willing to travel locally and abroad when required.
