Description

We are seeking a dedicated Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to oversee and enforce workplace safety across our food manufacturing facility at La Terra Fina. This role ensures compliance with OSHA, CA-OSHA, and other regulatory standards while fostering a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement. The EHS Manager will partner closely with the Plant HR Manager, Operations, and Warehouse leadership to maintain safe, clean, compliant, and secure working conditions for all employees.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Strengthening Compliance and Documentation: ensure systems, equipment, and procedures meet OSHA, CA-OSHA, ANSI, ISO standards; maintain accurate safety documentation and prepare for audits.
  • Technical Safety Leadership: establish leadership accountability for hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety system design; oversee implementation of safety programs, policies, and training.
  • Conduct Comprehensive Risk Assessments: identify hazards, analyze risks, document findings, integrate outcomes into site-wide programs and corrective action plans.
  • Develop and Implement Engineering Controls: design and install controls to eliminate or reduce hazards; partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Warehouse and Operations to ensure proper installation, verification, and monitoring.
  • Enhance Safety Training and Awareness: develop and deliver technical safety training for supervisors and employees; reinforce safe work practices and emergency response protocols.
  • Monitoring & Auditing: track adherence to safety policies, report discrepancies, implement corrective actions, conduct regular inspections, participate in annual policy reviews, lead corrective action planning based on audit results.
  • Safety Leadership and Engagement: facilitate plant safety meetings, promote continuous improvement, encourage employee participation and recognize proactive behaviors.
  • Foster a Proactive Safety Culture: analyze incident trends, implement preventive strategies, ensure transparent follow-up on reported concerns.
  • Improve Incident Investigation and Response: lead investigations, identify root causes, recommend solutions, communicate lessons learned, manage OSHA 300 logs.
  • Incident and Claim Management: collaborate with HR on Workers’ Compensation claims, coordinate return-to-work programs.
  • Leverage Technology and Data: implement advanced safety technologies, use data for trend analysis and KPI reporting.
  • Collaborate on Emergency Preparedness: design and test emergency systems and response plans, conduct drills, ensure readiness.
  • Continuous Improvement: stay current on emerging technologies and regulatory updates, review and update safety programs regularly based on audits and feedback.
Requirements
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a food production facility preferred.
  • Must be able to work independently while applying safety, GMP and quality principles.
  • Must communicate effectively to provide instruction, direction, explain procedures, create cultural alignment.
  • Available to spend time on each shift every week.
  • Comfortable with computers to capture relevant data in systems.
  • Strong bilingual ability in Spanish and English preferred.
  • Great attention to detail, reliable, proactive.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
