A leading mechanical contractor specializing in HVAC and Plumbing systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional construction projects is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team. This is a high‑impact role responsible for developing mechanical system designs, supporting construction operations, and delivering high‑quality engineered solutions for complex building projects.

If you’re a mechanical engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, collaborating with field teams, and influencing project success from concept through construction, we want to speak with you.

What You’ll Do

• Lead mechanical (HVAC & plumbing) design efforts for new construction and renovation projects across commercial, industrial, healthcare, education, and specialty markets.

• Prepare load calculations, equipment selections, and detailed design documents including plans, specifications, and technical reports.

• Perform design reviews, value‑engineering evaluations, and constructability assessments to optimize system performance and project cost.

• Support project managers, estimators, and field teams with design clarifications, submittal reviews, RFIs, and technical problem‑solving during construction.

• Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, civil engineers, and trade partners to ensure coordinated, code‑compliant design packages.

• Work closely with field installation teams to confirm feasibility, identify improvements, and support installation sequencing.

• Lead system analysis for energy performance, system efficiency, life‑cycle costing, and equipment sizing.

• Ensure all designs meet building codes, mechanical standards, and company quality expectations.

• Mentor junior engineers, assist with design standards development, and help elevate overall engineering capabilities.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; PE license preferred.

• 5–10+ years of experience designing HVAC and plumbing systems for building construction projects.

• Strong knowledge of mechanical codes, building codes, and industry standards (IMC, IPC, ASHRAE, NFPA).

• Proficiency with engineering design tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, Trane Trace / HAP, and industry‑specific calculation software.

• Experience working for a mechanical contractor or MEP consulting firm strongly preferred.

• Ability to interpret construction drawings and collaborate closely with field installation teams.

Strong communication skills with the ability to interface directly with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

• Self‑driven, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects concurrently.

Why Join Us?

• Opportunity to influence mechanical system design across major construction projects.

• Collaborative, team‑oriented culture where engineering and field teams work hand‑in‑hand.

Competitive compensation and benefits package.

• Strong pipeline of exciting projects and long‑term growth opportunities.
