Driver, Part- Time

Pay Range: $17.00 - $25.00/hour

Job Summary

Assist in providing and delivering specific ancillary services to residents and staff as they pertain to transportation of resident and staff to and from certain prescribed destinations.

Essential functions

• Receives and follows schedules/instructions from the RCFE Health Service Appointment Coordinator/Scheduler and RCFE Health Services Manager.
• Performs routine emergency driving assignments to medical clinics and hospitals; performs various driving errands including recreation trips, as needed.
• Assist residents with or without wheelchairs in and out of vehicles.
• Follows through on completion of assignments, overcoming obstacles and increasing efforts where necessary.
• When off campus, maintain contact with Masonic Homes via cell phone as needed and call 911 in case of a medical emergency.
• Performs basic safety inspections prior to any assigned trip. Records mileage and gas before and after trip.
• Attends to mechanical/body damage, by reporting it immediately to the RCFE Health Services Manager.
• Reports and responds to all emergencies as needed.
• Works independently and within a team on special and non- recurring and ongoing projects.
• Make practical decisions and recommendations reflecting logical analysis of problems and/ or issues.
• Conveys information in a concise, accurate, and understandable manner. Displays attentiveness, tact, and diplomacy in responding to others.
• Receives and initiates calls.
• Attends mandatory department meetings and in-service education.
• Regular attendance and punctuality.
• Assist residents with needs as appropriate.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements/Licenses/ Certificates

• Any combination of education and experience that would provide the necessary knowledge and abilities listed:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Requires a clean DMV Record.
• Maintain a Class C with the option of Class A or B with passenger endorsement or a Class II license.
• First Aid certification.
• Good driving record with at least 2 years driving experience.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with staff, residents, visitors, and the general public, and be able to follow written and oral instructions.
• Previous working experience with the elderly is desirable.
• Driver must always be safe and safety conscious at all times.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and initiative in accomplishing responsibilities.
