FSQ Technician – Actalent
Location: Union City, CA
This role focuses on monitoring, supporting, and ensuring compliance of food safety and quality requirements on a daily basis. The successful candidate will lead by example in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and work cohesively with the team to drive continual improvement.
Responsibilities- Perform physical inspection and analytical testing for food safety and quality, including color, pH, seal integrity, temperature, date code, X‑ray monitoring, weight checks, label accuracy, allergen testing, and cleanliness.
- Document all food‑safety and quality checks as required.
- Ensure all stakeholders consistently follow GMPs, good housekeeping, and company policies.
- Hold and release products after thorough review; provide feedback and guidance for corrective actions when non‑conformance is found.
- Conduct pre‑operation inspections of line equipment and processing environment, and perform environment testing such as ATP and allergen tests.
- Collect and retain samples from the production line for product evaluation at end of shelf life.
- Calibrate laboratory equipment per set frequency and maintain records.
- Take corrective actions for deviations and notify FSQ manager.
- Observe GMPs throughout the plant and warehouse; address discrepancies and follow up for corrective actions.
- Lead GMP inspections of assigned areas, communicate findings, and implement corrective actions.
- Support preparation for third‑party audits (FDA, USDA, Organic, SQF) and customer audits, following documented protocols.
- Audit food‑safety and quality records maintained by operators.
- Identify opportunities to improve methods and processes; recommend actions to FSQ manager.
- React to unexpected changes and adapt processes accordingly.
- Assist in backup for FSQ lead and other team members in absence.
- Help train new hires and conduct refresher sessions on food‑safety and quality topics.
- Participate in mock‑recalls and product withdrawal drills.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and track corrective action implementation.
- Inform FSQ manager about issues and improvement opportunities.

Pay & BenefitsPay range: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour.
