Position: Shop Service Technician I - Utilities

Job Overview

This position is for a Field Service Technician responsible for conducting safe and efficient maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of equipment at Ring Power Corporation.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental, and contamination control policies, procedures, and regulations. Wear proper personal protective equipment.
  • Attend and successfully complete required technician training classes.
  • Maintain a necessary set of tools required for job performance to diagnose, disassemble, and assemble components to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Diagnose and perform designated repairs on customer or company-owned equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Work in a neat and orderly fashion, constantly looking for ways of improving methods of work, work area, and safety standards.
  • Inspect components to insure maximum parts are being reused to control repair costs.
  • Complete required documentation using appropriate software to document repairs performed on equipment and account for repair times.
  • Monitor job expenses versus repair estimates and ensure that the supervisor is aware of any cost overrun prior to the job being completed.
  • Approach work positively, maintain conduct supportive of the work team, and set the standard for others to follow.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing tasks on time while maintaining safety and quality expectations.
  • Train and/or mentor others in the department.
  • Assume the supervisor’s position temporarily as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 5–6 years of relevant experience.
  • Completed all required training curriculum to be designated a Tech I.
  • Able to easily comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.
  • Proficient in the use of a computer, Microsoft Office products, and relevant dealer software programs. (Not required but highly desired)
  • Successfully completed relevant specialized equipment technical courses. (Not required but highly desired)
Updating of Knowledge

Job requirements frequently change; re‑training is required once or more per year.
