Role OverviewTeam Leader – Tax Office Manager
As a Team Leader, you will provide leadership to a customer‑centric team of associates and accelerate their seasonal tax business by managing a single H&R Block tax office.
You will be the front‑line manager responsible for the development and performance of tax office associates, delivering an outstanding client experience, and achieving all office‑related growth objectives.
Typical DayYou will inspire people to make confident, informed decisions about their lives and finances while building client relationships that strengthen over time.
Responsibilities- Partner with the District General Manager to create and implement office‑level growth plans, including local partnerships and community involvement.
- Assist the District General Manager in recruiting and interviewing candidates for tax office associate positions.
- Serve as the point of contact for onsite escalated client service concerns.
- Ensure clients are scheduled properly and conflicts are resolved.
- Lead daily activities to ensure all tax office associate work is completed according to deadlines, quality standards, priorities, and overall goals.
- Build an engaging team environment by training and coaching associates to execute Service Standards and recognizing outstanding contributions.
- Lead daily team meetings and communicate essential information to tax office associates.
- Create associate work schedules and ensure accurate time‑keeping and overtime management.
- Prepare tax returns, as required.
- Conduct timely performance reviews and partner with Associate Relations Center to resolve associate issues and address performance concerns.
- Multi‑unit people management experience in retail, restaurant, banking, or a related industry.
- At least 2 years as a Tax Professional.
- Prior experience working in a customer service, shift leader, or similar role.
- Experience supervising or managing people.
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment or Income Tax Course (if preparing tax returns).
- Annual completion of continuing education and ability to meet all IRS and state requirements.
- Computer proficiency with MS Office.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Passionate, determined, and resilient with a customer‑centric mindset.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and adapt to changing business needs.
- High school diploma or equivalent (higher is a plus).

Pay Range$15.00 – $65.00 per hour. Local minimum wage laws apply. Individual pay decisions depend on experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location. Successful candidates may participate in incentives and short‑term incentive plans.
