POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, the incumbent utilizes a general understanding of nursing principles and basic physical assessment skills to develop and implement individualized nursing care plans, ensuring residents' needs are met. The role includes assisting in the orientation and supervision of nursing personnel, managing daily unit operations per shift, and assuming leadership responsibilities as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Takes an active role in direct resident assessment and care.

Supervises and coordinates nursing personnel in providing direct resident care in adherence to State and Federal regulations.

Formulates individualized nursing care plans utilizing the nursing process.

Assesses each resident daily and adjusts care plans as needed.

Assists physicians during rounds, communicates pertinent information, and ensures orders are correctly followed.

Participates in training and supervising nursing personnel.

Utilizes principles of leadership and supervision effectively.

Manages conflicts through problem-solving and communication skills.

Handles emergency situations calmly and efficiently.

Prepares daily assignments including duties, treatments, and tasks.

Assists with the implementation of the facility’s Quality Improvement Program.

Identifies potential safety hazards and noncompliance with facility policies.

Maintains accurate resident care records reflecting the nursing process.

Participates in resident care meetings, staff meetings, and in-services.

Engages in teaching residents, families, and staff through formal or informal presentations.

Dispenses medication and performs treatments as per facility policies.

Ensures residents and families receive high-quality, compassionate care respecting individual needs and rights.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

The RN must be a graduate of an approved nursing school and currently licensed by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing.

Recent experience in geriatric or rehabilitative nursing and supervisory experience are preferred.
