HUD Certified Counselor NHCAC

Under the direction of the Vice President of CAP Services, the HUD Certified Housing Counselor provides housing counseling, education, and advocacy to clients throughout Hudson County. The role supports individuals and families in achieving housing stability, financial readiness, and sustainable home ownership.

• Provide one-on-one and group counseling in home ownership, rental, and homelessness prevention.
• Educate clients on budgeting, credit, fair housing laws, and tenant/landlord responsibilities.
• Assist clients in developing individualized action plans and connect them with community resources.
• Maintain accurate client records and prepare required program reports.
• Stay current on housing laws, regulations, and best practices.

• HUD Certified Housing Counselor Certificate issued by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (must include issue date and Housing Counselor r).
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• Additional certifications in case management, credit counseling, or related areas preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and case management skills.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
