Maintenance Technician - 1st Shift at Wayne‑Sanderson Farms

PAY: $24/hour + $3,000 Sign & Stay Bonus

WORK SCHEDULE: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM

BENEFITS: Available first day of hire

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Primarily responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of various mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and conveying systems in a poultry processing plant. Perform preventative and predictive maintenance using blueprints and diagrams to verify that all equipment is operating within required specifications and tolerances. May perform periodic testing and inspections, troubleshooting and repairs. Works in compliance with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

& TASKS
  • Repair and perform preventative maintenance on industrial machinery using blueprint and schematic drawings to ensure equipment meets safety and performance specifications.
  • Identify root cause of basic mechanical issues and repair by welding, fabricating parts, basic pipe fitting or replacing defective components; notify appropriate personnel if further attention is required.
  • Identify unsafe conditions, correct them, and report if unable to resolve on own.
  • Maintain a file of blueprints, operating manuals and procedures as needed.
  • Work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • PASS NOCTI Mechanical/Electrical test, Level 1 required.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
  • Minimum 1 year experience in industrial machine predictive and preventative maintenance or demonstrated mechanical and electrical knowledge.
  • Intermediate math and computer skills.
  • Ability to operate/use basic hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and self‑motivate.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours.
  • Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
  • Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in required areas.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Stand up to 8 hours.
  • Lift up to 60 lbs.
  • May be exposed to heat (99ºF, 37ºC) and cold (45ºF, 4ºC).
  • Exposure to wet and dusty environment.
  • Frequently reach, bend, stoop, kneel and crawl.
  • Roll and push buggies (~1,000 lbs.).
  • Work around raw, live animal odors.
