Performs skilled work in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of automobiles and medium‑duty diesel vehicles in a safe and efficient manner. This includes diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring vehicles operate safely and efficiently.

• Inspect, diagnose, maintain and repair automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, and suspension.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on gasoline and diesel‑powered vehicles.
• Specialize in medium‑duty diesel engines, including troubleshooting and repair of fuel systems, emissions, and electronic controls.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify issues and recommend solutions.
• Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Order and maintain parts, tools, and equipment as needed.
• Assist with and/or perform additional duties as required by operating needs or as directed by management.
• May be required to work non‑regular hours.

• High School diploma or GED required; technical certification in automotive or diesel technology preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in automotive repair, with at least 1 year focused on medium‑duty diesel engines.

• Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diesel engines, and diagnostic procedures.
• Ability to interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Familiarity with federal and state safety regulations for vehicle maintenance.
• Requires following strict safety protocols and ability to ensure all applicable safety practices are in place and followed.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and follow directions.

• Primarily indoor shop environment with occasional outdoor work. Exposure to extreme temperatures, wet or humid conditions, and outdoor weather.

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, electrical shock, vibration, airborne particles, loud noise, high places, hazardous materials.

• Walking, sitting, standing, climbing, crawling, stooping, crouching, talking, hearing, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception.
• Regularly lift up to 40 lbs; occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.
• May require wearing a respirator.
