- Valid Missouri paraprofessional certificate and/or a minimum of 60 college credit hours and Missouri substitute teaching certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree and appropriate Missouri teaching certification preferred, not required.
- Criminal justice fingerprint and background clearance.
- Alternative qualifications may be considered by the Board and/or Superintendent.
Performance Responsibilities
- Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of materials or skills introduced by certified staff.
- Assists certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning based on an understanding of individual students’ needs, interests, and abilities.
- Monitors work, corrects papers, and supervises curriculum‑based testing and makeup work as assigned.
- Performs clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional duties as assigned.
- Alerts certified staff to any problem or special information about an individual student.
- Performs assigned supervision of students during lunch periods, play periods, and on field trips.
- Demonstrates ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
- Participates in in‑service training programs as approved.
- Maintains a safe working environment and encourages colleagues to be safety‑minded.
- Performs any other duties assigned by certified staff.
- Effectively collects and maintains evidence of yearly professional development hours.
- Works well as a team member to serve all constituencies.
- Adheres to all deadlines and requirements presented by administration, state, and federal law.
- Attends all meetings as requested by building and district administration.
- Maintains strict confidentiality as required by law.
- Commits to lifelong learning and growth.
- Performs any related duties assigned by building and district administration.
Evaluation Performance will be evaluated annually per Board policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
Physical, Mental and Visual Demands Frequently required to stand, walk, sit; may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 50 lbs. Vision required to read handwritten or typed materials, and to meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with staff and public.
