Substitute Nurse

Substitute School Nurse position at the district.

Director of Health Education Services and building principal.

Provides the fullest possible educational opportunity for our students by minimizing absence due to illness and providing and delivering health services.

• Must have experience working with school-age children
• Must be able to perform as an independent practitioner in an educational setting.
• Familiarity with diabetes, asthma, allergies, and anaphylaxis are essential to this position
• Must have the knowledge to support students with special needs
• Must have effective oral and written communication skills
• Must have strong interpersonal communication skills
• Must have the knowledge to work with children who have both chronic and episodic illnesses
• Must have the ability to work as a member of a team
• Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, staff, board members, and the general public
• Must have personal transportation available and must be able to support flexible hours as needed
• Must have the ability and the desire to work with young people, their families, and a wide range of constituencies
• Informs teachers of physical or health conditions which should impair the learning process according to FERPA, ANA, and NASN of nursing standards

• Missouri nursing license, CPR certification, AED certification, and First aid training
• RN license preferred but not required; LPN required
• Criminal justice fingerprint and background clearance
