This position is responsible for interacting with customers and team members, supporting selling initiatives, and performing assigned tasks while providing legendary customer service.

As a Team Member, you should be available, flexible, adaptable, and service-oriented, capable of fulfilling the following requirements:

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Work scheduled shifts, including varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Support selling initiatives (TEAM):
  • Thank the Customer
  • Engage with the customer and/or pet
  • Advise on products or services
  • Make the experience Memorable
• Perform a variety of duties during 95% of your day, including but not limited to:
  • Operate cash register/computer following established cash handling procedures
  • Merchandise recovery
  • Participate in freight processing
  • Complete Plan-o-gram procedures (merchandising, sets, resets)
  • Assemble merchandise
  • Perform janitorial duties
  • Execute price changes/markdowns
  • Assist customers with loading purchases
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of live animals, including sanitizing and maintaining holding tanks
  • Complete all related documentation
• Perform other duties as assigned.

No experience required; retail experience and pet/live animal knowledge are preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required; however, reading, writing, and counting skills are necessary.

• Pet/live animal, pet food, and pet product knowledge
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Basic computer skills
• Interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict

• Indoor environment with moderate noise levels
• Hard surfaces such as concrete or asphalt; adequate lighting and temperature
• Shifts generally range from 4 to over 8 hours
• Promote a safe and productive environment following safety guidelines

• Position is non-sedentary; requires movement throughout the store and outdoors
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently
• Occasionally lift or reach overhead
• Stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders frequently
• Move throughout the store for entire shifts
• Access all store areas safely
• Operate store equipment continuously
• Read, write, and count accurately for documentation
• Communicate effectively with team and customers
• Process merchandise through POS system
• Handle live animals, equipment, and merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds
• Complete all training and certification requirements
