Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent GED.
  • First Aid and CPR training.
  • Experience working with school-aged students with a wide range of backgrounds and needs required.
  • Experience working with special education and high needs students preferred.

Reports to:

Transportation Supervisor

Job goal:
Assist with the safe transportation of students to and from school and related functions.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Ensure the safe transportation of students of all ages to and from school and extracurricular activities.
  • Manage student behavior and maintain discipline on the bus.
  • Conduct and log pretrip inspections to check for cleanliness, safety, proper mechanical functions and adequate fuel levels.
  • Maintain and track route data as mandated by school and state regulations.
  • Maintain CPR and First Aid Training.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of student discipline and medical records.
  • Report mechanical problems to the bus driver and district transportation supervisor.
  • Attend monthly safety meetings and in services as available.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate positively and constructively to parents, students, administration and others.
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Transportation Supervisor and district administration.

Terms of employment: 175 days per year

Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of classified personnel.

Physical, Mental and Visual Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. Additionally, the employee may occasionally be required to push or lift up to 50 lbs as necessary for the safety and wellbeing of others. Lastly, this job requires the employee to have the vision ability to read handwritten or typed materials, and meet multiple demands from several people while interacting with other staff and the public.
