Deputy News Manager

Beacon Media Group is seeking to recruit a Deputy News Manager on a full‑time basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring high‑level content creation related to news and current affairs for Newsbook Malta and RTK
103, with emphasis on off‑diary and human stories, and investigative journalism. S/he is expected to be creative, take initiative, produce and present content professionally in line with ethical standards of journalism. S/he is also expected to co‑ordinate the newsroom efficiently, mentor team members and deputise the News Manager as required.

• A tertiary level qualification at MQF level 6 preferably in communications, media studies, journalism, or a similar relevant field.
• A minimum of four (4) years’ work experience in the field of journalism.
• Experience in management of human resources will be considered an asset.
• A sound background in digital marketing and online media, besides basic IT proficiency.
• Excellent communication and decision‑making skills.
• Excellent presentation and interviewing skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills (both in Maltese and English).
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and networking skills.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to assign and delegate tasks.
• Knowledge in Catholic Social Teaching and particular interest in any of the following will be considered an asset: the environment, migration, political science, international affairs, health issues and economics.
