After School Visual Arts Instructor

Overview

• Guiding, engaging and teaching children different styles of visual arts and teaching multiple techniques and mediums.
• Organizing and preparing different projects or workshops depending on the style of class being taught.
• Cleaning of the studio and equipment before and after teaching.
• Explaining the registration process and community centre activities.
• Responding to questions and raising concerns to the supervisor who refers parents/families to community resources.
• Other related duties as required.

Employee is required to be available weekdays (3:00 – 7:00 p.m.) during the Winter term (January – March) and the Spring Term (April – June). The position is also required to work out of the West Vancouver Community Centre and The Gleneagles Community Centre.

The successful candidate will have experience and/or training in visual arts and experience teaching or working with school‑age children and potentially youth. Previous teaching experience will be considered an asset. Having a vehicle and being open to working at various community sites will also be preferred. The successful candidate will also be required to supply a police information check with vulnerable sector and a copy of their credentials.

Rate of Pay: $26 per hour plus 4% in lieu of benefits. This position offers a competitive wage based on experience and qualifications.
