JOB TITLE: Finance & Credit Control Officer

REPORTING TO: Manager
SALARY: To be agreed after interview based on previous work experience and qualifications
OFFICE BASED ROLE: Full Time Contract – 37.5 Hours per week
CLOSING DATE: 7th January 2026
GENERAL SCOPE OF ROLE: The Finance Officer will be accountable to the Manager / Board of Directors of the credit union for the control of all areas of financial management.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: Reporting directly to the Manager, the Finance Officer’s key areas of responsibility are:
Finance and Credit Control- Manage the finance function.
- Credit control and debt management.
- Ensure fully documented internal control procedures are in place.
- Bank reconciliation and managing daily accounts.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements regarding investments.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
- Work as part of the management team to develop the credit union going forward.
- Participate in credit union policy review process, where appropriate.
- Contribute to the preparation of the financial projections.
- Consult with our External Risk and Compliance officer and resolve actions.
- Consult with our Internal and External Auditors and prepare documents for review.
- Preparation of Monthly Management accounts for board meetings and year end accounts for board and external auditors.
- Oversee preparation of financial/management accounts on an ongoing basis to ensure accurate recording and timely balancing of the audit process.
- Consult with both Internal and External Auditors in providing explanation and information as requested to ensure timely completion of the audit process.
- Timely completion of quarterly and annual returns to the Registrar and other reports and/or returns as requested by management.
- Consult with Revenue and complete necessary returns (Payroll-related returns but also need to file DIRT Returns on a quarterly and annual basis).
- Ensure running of all month and year end programmes and where appropriate presentation of subsequently produced reports to management.
- Retention of records falling within the areas of responsibility in compliance with current legislation.
- Support management in the implementation of board policies and directives.
- Maintain a detailed fixed asset register which includes IT assets.
- Attend training programs and workshops as required by the credit union.
- Attend and contribute to meetings of such committees as may be directed by the Manager and the board of directors.
- Undertake such other reasonable and lawful duties as may be directed from time to time by the manager.
- Record keeping, maintain accurate records of all transactions and communication with members.
- A recognized professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA), membership of a professional accounting body in Ireland.
- Working towards APA Loans/QFA.
