Job Description / ResponsibilitiesThe Staff Psychologist position at Children’s Specialized Hospital (CSH) is housed within the state-of-the-art outpatient rehabilitation facility in Union, joining a dynamic multidisciplinary team. Primary responsibilities include addressing biopsychosocial needs of pediatric patients and families, performing diagnostic interviews, conducting psychological testing, and providing psychotherapeutic support. The clinical teams include Autism Team and Feeding Teams as needed. Essential functions include:
- Performs complete psychodiagnostic evaluations with new patients and identifies patient/family psychosocial needs
- Provides individual, family, and group psychotherapy as indicated
- Sets realistic intervention goals and delivers behavioral medicine interventions based on developmental needs
- Conducts assessments of cognitive and neuropsychological functioning
- Attends interdisciplinary case conferences
- Provides team consultation and supports clinical staff
- Participates in program development and potential research
- Offers in-services and educational trainings
- Disseminates findings per Department policy
- Provides supervision to staff, fellows, interns, externs as indicated
- Maintains competency in interpreting patient/family behavior with consideration of cognitive, bio-psychosocial factors
- Meets minimum annual volumes and remains flexible in duties
Scheduling
- Full Time
- 40 hours/week
- Flexibility in schedule; may require on-call
Required:
- PhD, PsyD, or EdD
- NJ Psychology license
- AHA BLS Provider Certification
- Experience working with children/teens on the Autism spectrum
- 1+ year of job-related experience
- 1+ year of children and/or adolescent experience
- Experience with cognitive behavioral modification
- Ability to relate therapeutically with the professional team, children, adolescents and their parents/significant others
Preferred:
- Standard battery testing experience
- Experience with children/teens with chronic illness and/or health psychology
Certifications And Licenses Required:
- NJ Psychology license
- AHA BLS Provider Certification
