BUSINESS OFFICER I University of Alabama at Birmingham
Under minimal supervision, this position will perform a variety of administrative tasks for the Center of Neurodegeneration and Experimental Therapeutics in the Department of Neurology. The individual in this position will perform financial tasks, including payment requests, purchasing, contract processing, and P card reconcilation. This individual will be a resource for the 15+ labs to keep them up to date purchasing policies and processes and provide instruction to new labs.
This individual will assist with HR tasks for the division, including handling access requests, upkeep of the phone list and listserv, timekeeping for biweekly staff, and assisting faculty with hiring and postdoc appointments. This individual will be a liaison between division faculty and department administration for all division staff hires. Grant support tasks will include gathering documents needed for submissions.
This individual will schedule CNET meetings and arrange catering. This position will coordinate special events and assist with recruitment and guest speaker visits. This position will also submit maintenance, housekeeping, and concierge construction services requests, both for routine issues and for preparing space for new faculty.
Roles & Responsibilities
Acts as business and/or operations officer for a small to mid-size division, department or sub-division.
Operating under minimal supervision, responsibilities may encompass financial, administrative, personnel, space and database management.
Coordinates implementation of policies and procedures for the assigned areas of responsibility.
Serves as financial/budget/grants management officer for assigned unit. Directs administrative operations of assigned unit and supervises support staff.
May solicit funds and perform special projects as needed.
At least three years experience in an administrative position.
Proficient in Basic use of Microsoft Office programs.
Previous UAB Oracle purchasing and payment systems experience preferred.
Salary Range: $52,555-$85,400
EducationBachelor's degree in Business or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required.
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
