Position Description

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) in the School of Applied Sciences at The University of Mississippi invites applications for a 9‑month tenure‑track Assistant Professor position to start in August 2026. Candidates should have expertise in one or more of the following areas: child or adolescent, language, literacy, developmental disabilities, speech sound disorders, phonology, or complex communication. All areas of specialization are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and sustain a line of research that contributes to scientific advancement in an area related to the candidate’s expertise.
  • Actively pursue external funding for research.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses (face‑to‑face, online, and/or blended).
  • Direct student research.
  • Engage in departmental, college, university, and professional service.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in communication sciences and disorders or a closely related field by the appointment start date.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC‑SLP).
  • Eligibility for Mississippi state licensure.
