Role

The Vice President of Physical Health is responsible for overseeing the administration, coordination, and strategic direction of physical health services of the Integrated Health department of GSS. This is a key leadership position that will play a pivotal role in advancing our physical health services and ensuring their alignment with both organizational goals and clinical standards set by Medicaid Managed Care/A 29i.

The Vice President is a member of the agency’s Agency Leadership Team. This role requires a deep understanding of the medical needs of pediatric and young adult participants in foster care settings, as well as a strong commitment to Quality Assurance.

The VP stays current with mandates from oversight agencies such as ACS, OCFS, COA, and the American Academy of Pediatrics, and provides advisory support to other agency programs to ensure participant well-being. The VP ensures the highest standards of care and regulatory compliance across the following programs:

  • Two Close to Home Group Homes – East New York, Brooklyn

Hours: 35 Hours/Week;
Exempt (On Call)
Salary: $165,000 – $180,000 per year

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and oversee the Physical Health Services Team, including the Directors of Nursing
  • Ensure compliance with Medicaid Managed Care policies and maintain up to date knowledge of process and documentation to support practice implementation for foster care and residential programs
  • Ensure Article 29-I facilities meet all State requirements and maintain compliance with city, state, and federal regulations, including OMIG standards.
  • Serve on the Compliance and Incident Risk Management Committee, guiding health standards for participants and staff.
  • Collaborate across VP’s in GSS’ Enhanced Family Foster Care (EFFC) and residential care programs, to ensure implementation of medical practice as it relates to Medicaid services including but not limited to 29i.
  • Update health services policies and procedures to reflect regulatory changes and Trauma-Informed Care principles; educate staff on infection control.
  • Leads high performing, service focused team of physical health employees through implementation of standardized work, systems of accountability and professionalism and employee engagement.
  • As part of the Integrated Health leadership team, partner with other leadership in the department to ensure that participant & employee experience, productivity, and fiscal goals are achieved through implementation of operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure internal staff training as necessary to properly implement A29i policies and procedures
  • Attend relevant external stakeholder meetings, e.g., OCFS, OMH, ACS and COFCCA meetings/trainings
  • Manage Medicaid budgets in coordination with the Sr. Vice President of Integrated Health and Finance Department.
  • Collaborate with the Medicaid Quality Assurance Department for ongoing review of health and behavioral care documentation.
  • Develop and deliver health-related training for staff and participants, including family life and sex education for youth in care.
  • Be available on-call for emergencies and represent the agency at external meetings.
  • Implement trauma-informed practices using the Sanctuary Model framework.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources, Facilities, and other departments to support health initiatives.
  • Maintain relationships with funders and health resources such as ACS MH to ensure optimal service delivery.
Qualifications

Licensure: Unrestricted Registered Nurse License in New York State (Required)

Experience:

Minimum 5 years of leadership experience in Child Welfare, Foster Care, or Social Services 2–3 years of clinical pediatric experience Proven administrative experience in nursing, including electronic health records and policy implementation Experience with Medicaid Managed Care (Preferred)

Skills:

Strong interest in working with childrenolescents from underserved communities Commitment to strength-based and youth development approaches Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access) Ability to travel to multiple sites across NYC
