Overview
Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor Anatomy & Physiology, Department of Anthropology. The Department of Anthropology at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-line teaching position to start Fall 2025. The successful candidate will lead the development of a human gross anatomy teaching program in the department's new gross anatomy teaching lab and join a collegial, science-based anthropology department with strong interdisciplinary ties across Penn State.
Responsibilities- Lead the development and oversight of the human gross anatomy teaching program, including a dissection course for medical students, graduate students, and advanced undergraduates.
- Teach courses within the candidate’s area of expertise, and contribute to curriculum design, development of inquiry-based exercises, and assessment.
- Recruit, train, and supervise laboratory teaching assistants as part of an instructional team.
- Collaborate with department faculty on opportunities for research collaboration in related areas.
- Ph.D. in anthropology, biology, anatomy, or another anatomically related field, in hand at the time of appointment.
- At least two years of teaching experience in relevant courses.
- Demonstrated interest in pedagogy and the application of research-based teaching methods.
- Experience with active learning strategies in undergraduate or graduate teaching.
- Preference given to candidates with anatomy teaching and dissection experience.
- Commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or clear plans to do so.
- Non-tenure-line, term position with the possibility of renewal.
