Overview

Visiting Assistant Professor of Public Policy. The School of Public Policy at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor to start Fall 2025, with flexibility.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct high-quality research and support the research agenda of Professor Anthony Bertelli, the Sherwin Whitmore Chair of Liberal Arts.
  • Engage in resident instruction; teaching load during the academic year is three courses for the School of Public Policy; onsite teaching is an essential function of this job.
Qualifications and profile
  • Research interests in bureaucratic politics and/or European politics; advanced proficiency in quantitative methods; strong background in theory building;
  • Ideal candidate is an independent and motivated researcher; fluent English required; fluency in another language (e.g., French, German, Italian, Portuguese, or Spanish) desirable.
  • Ph.D. in public policy, political science, or related field required by appointment date.
Appointment details
  • Non-tenure-track, term position with possibility of renewal; rank at appointment is Assistant Teaching Professor.
  • Preference for candidates who can teach statistics, policy analysis, or economics policy in the Master of Public Policy Program and the State, Society, and Public Policy course at the undergraduate level.
