The Research Assistant will work under the supervision of Dr. Brown at McGill University, in collaboration with Laurence Lejeune (PhD Candidate, Université Québec à Montréal (UQAM), Centre de recherche sur les innovations sociales (CIRST)), Dr. Paquet (Université Laval), Kulbir Kaur Ghuman (Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS)) and a team of social science collaborators.
Position Summary- Assist with ethics submissions, participant recruitment, and logistics coordination.
- Design and conduct focus group sessions and semi-structured interviews with ARPs working in scientific platforms.
- Contribute to the design, testing, and refinement of Quebec surveys on ARP career trajectories and barriers.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data and prepare preliminary reports for internal and external dissemination.
- Support the development of educational and outreach materials (e.g., case studies, training modules, podcast content).
- Contribute to the creation of a digital platform for knowledge mobilization and outreach.
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s program at a Quebec University in Sociology, Science Technology and Society, Political Science, Education, or a related discipline.
- Experience with qualitative research methods including interviews, focus groups, and survey design.
- Interest in science policy, equity in academia, and research infrastructure.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research setting.
- Excellent writing, oral and communication skills in English AND French
