The Electronic Materials and Devices Department (EMDD) of the Penn State Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) seeks a motivated candidate to support research and development in electronic materials processing, testing/characterization, semiconductor device fabrication, sample preparation, polishing, and materials growth/synthesis.
Responsibilities- Support development of R&D programs for critical DOD assets.
- Provide subject matter expertise in manufacturing and design of microelectronics.
- Develop application-specific test methods to evaluate performance of DOD microelectronic devices.
- Define critical performance metrics for novel microelectronics in DOD applications.
- Background knowledge of manufacturing processors for critical DOD applications.
- Detailed knowledge of DOD applications benefiting from new semiconductor materials.
- Experience designing, developing, and manufacturing microelectronics.
- Ability to maintain organized and detailed notes.
- Good communication skills.
- Willingness to work in a fast‑paced team environment.
- Experience managing and executing R&D programs.
- Advanced knowledge of DOD applications for new microelectronic technologies.
- Ability to develop and execute R&D programs.
On‑site located in State College, PA.
Background Checks / ClearancesEmployment requires successful completion of background checks and potential government security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required. A pre‑employment drug screen is also required.
