Dev Ops Engineer
The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and customer service focused Dev Ops Engineer to join our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Tools Team. The team works with ARL Research Offices to support research and engineering data via Siemens Teamcenter and a suite of engineering design tools.
Responsibilities- Design, code, test, debug, implement, modify, and maintain Siemens Teamcenter PLM environments.
- Integrate Teamcenter with Mechanical and Electrical CAD tools and other enterprise applications (e.g., NX, Solid Works, Altium, CADENAS PART Solutions).
- Establish, implement, and document technology integration and migration strategies; monitor overall performance and proactively identify and tune issues across the stack.
- Analyze and translate business process requirements into technical solutions.
- Ensure compliance with standards and requirements; monitor threats, alerts, and security vulnerabilities.
- Maintain disaster recovery plans and support business continuity efforts, including backups.
- Resolve interoperability and other advanced issues via helpdesk systems.
- Develop, test, and implement application enhancements and new integrations.
- Design and tune application, database, or system architecture for optimal resource usage.
- Mentor and, if applicable, supervise a growing staff, including hiring, development, and performance management.
- Proficiency with Windows Server, Red Hat Linux, and SELinux system administration.
- Programming skills in multiple languages.
- VMWare and virtual machine management.
- Oracle databases and application servers (e.g., Apache Tomcat).
- Strong analytical skills for diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
- Success in environments requiring communication and organizational skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Sciences, or Mechanical Engineering.
- PLM systems implementation, especially Siemens Teamcenter, in a production environment.
- Enterprise software integration and support (COTS tools).
- Microsoft Office Product Suite – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Visio.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience.
- Current eligibility for a classified security clearance at the Secret level or higher.
State College, PA – on‑site. Hybrid or work‑from‑home arrangements may be considered in consultation with the hiring manager.
Minimum Education & ExperienceFor the Dev Ops Engineer – Senior Professional:
Bachelor’s Degree and 6+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent). For the Dev Ops Engineer – Advanced Professional:
Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent).
