Dr. Meng Wang’s research group in Environmental Systems Engineering in the John and Willie Leone Family Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering (EME) at The Pennsylvania State University has openings for doctoral students starting in Fall 2026. The students will conduct research in the areas of resource recovery, nutrient management or environmental sustainability. Potential projects include hybrid ion exchange and biological process for wastewater treatment and resource recovery, and phytoextraction of critical minerals from mining waste.
Qualifications- Self-motivated students with B.S or M.S in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, biotechnology, or related fields.
- Strong academic records and good communication skills.
- Experience in bioreactor design and operation, environmental microbiology, process modeling or functional material design is desirable, but not required.
