The Pennsylvania State University, Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), University Park, has an opening for a Psychologist position beginning August 8, 2025
. This is a generalist position that will be filled at the Advanced or Senior Professional level for Psychologists. This position is a 91.7% Full Time Equivalent (FTE) with time off in the summer months.
- Individual and group psychotherapy
- Initial consultation and diagnostic assessment for students with a wide range of mental health, behavioral, emotional, and developmental concerns
- Triage, crisis assessment, intervention, and stabilization
- Provision of appropriate disposition to on and off-campus referrals
- Provision of consultation and educational programming to the university community
- Multidisciplinary collaboration
- Clinical supervision of trainees, dependent upon licensure status
All clinicians on our staff perform their duties while adhering to and promoting trauma-informed care and healing-centered approaches and principles, in alignment with the establishment of the Commonwealth of PA as a trauma-informed, healing centered state.
Education and Experience- This position will be filled at an Advanced or Senior Professional level, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. The Advanced professional typically requires a Ph.D. or Psy.
D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and three years of relevant experience or higher. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher-level jobs. - A one-year, full-time doctoral internship in Professional Psychology is required.
- Eligible to become a Licensed Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (must be licensed within 18 months of hire).
- Current licensure as a Psychologist is preferred.
- Preference is given to candidates who have experience providing services to diverse populations, such as, but not limited to, underrepresented students, international students, and sexual and/or gender-diverse students.
This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
